Jen Grow is the first instructor in Rochester, NY to be trained in the MELT Method® hand and foot treatment - a method based on the technique of rolling small soft and hard balls along the feet and hands to improve your health.
Jen was a competitive gymnast for over 10 years, and gymnastics can be a really harsh sport on your body. But with every injury she incurred, it gave her the opportunity to learn more about the healing process. Jen turned to yoga in her early twenties for a gentler, more balanced practice. She graduated from the Sivananda Yoga Ashram, after a month long intensive, and has been a member of the Yoga Alliance since 2003.
After tearing her hamstring in 2009, Jennifer learned the importance of cross training. Balance is always the key, and while Jen had some impressive looking asana, she was out of balance. She began taking zumba, total body conditioning, and pilates.
While not as flexible as she used to be, she is stronger and more balanced than ever. This journey has made her a better teacher, as she understands what it feels like to be injured, how important it is to back off when you need to, and how to use yoga to work through the injury.
Travel and studying all different types of yoga, dance and fitness have allowed Jen to create well rounded, playful, inspiring classes, that will push your boundaries, while keeping you safe. A constant student herself, always learning more about anatomy, alignment, and philosophy, she is eager to pass on her knowledge.
Jen lives in the City of Rochester, NY where she enjoys a healthy, relaxed lifestyle with her son and two dogs. Some of her other passions include reiki, essential oils, nutrition, kayaking, and teaching dancing.
